2019-08-01: This was an unpublished, unfinished post. Hopefully will fix in the future.
I missed out on booking both the Wednesday and Friday shuttles direct to El Tunco. At a price of $50 USD and an 8 hour ride
3:15am is the time I got up. I need to get to the bus terminal at 4am oI’m glad I had a half decent sleep as I was in an air-conditioned dorm, and with the Northern Hemisphere nearing summer and the wet season just starting in Nicaragua, it has made for some of the muggiest nights I’ve experience. 3:40am I’m out the door, running through the streets, looking out for taxis. I
Caught the directo bus to Guacsale, the town on the border of Nicaragua and Honduras. Waited 2 hours at the border with friendly local family before going. Direct bus, many stops. Got to the Honduras - El Salvador border. Took bus to San Miguel. Took aircon bus to San Salvador, got ripped off on the bus and in San Salvador with the taxi. As the taxi pulled into the La Libertad terminal, managed to just catch that. An hour later, in La Libertad and got off that bus to catch the El Tunco bus. Stopped on the main road, walked past the initial derelict homes and reached the only road in El Tunco.
To be continued…
